Newborn Photo Session With Elizabeth June

"The full hair and make up was wonderful. You feel a bit like a zombie after childbirth so having someone make me feel and look refreshed for the pictures was great. She was also extremely patient while we had to herd around our older three kids and the pictures turned out amazing. Tell us a little bit about your growing family!

We have a big family with four kids, age 9, 6, 3 and 3 weeks! It's been a little chaotic but our older kids are so excited to have a new sibling. She completes our family and we feel very lucky that everyone has been so accepting of the new addition.

How is your newborn baby doing?

She's doing great! She's not the best sleeper but I think you have amnesia to the exhaustion (otherwise we wouldn't keep doing this!). She's super cute and well loved by her siblings.

How did you come up with baby's name?

Her full name is Elizabeth June. Elizabeth is my oldest sister's middle name and June was the month both my mother and middle sister were born. We're working on nicknames at this point. Front runners are Lilly, Betty or Ellie.

If you have more than one child, how different are the kids?

She looks exactly like my oldest daughter but with dark hair! She doesn't have her personality though, thank goodness. She's pretty chill unless she wakes up from a nap starving. I imagine as she grows her personality will start to emulate her siblings more. They are passionate, loud and very feisty!

How are the siblings adjusting to having a new baby in the house?

They LOVE her. It's a fight for who gets to hold her. So far no jealously...

Favorite thing about being a mom?

I love the newborn snuggles. While I'm terminally exhausted, I really enjoy when she sleeps on my chest or just taking in her glances while breastfeeding.

What’s the hardest part about being a mom to a newborn?

The sleep exhaustion is rough. I'm a go-go-go person and the hardest part of a newborn for me is having to sit down and rely on others to do things. I've had to let small tasks go and save them for another time to soak in the newborn time.

Words of wisdom for other families?

Ask for help! Family, friends, other kids are all sources of help! I used to be too proud to take meals or assistance but now I realize it's critical. It's such a short lived time so I realize it's only temporary that I will need all this help.
