BABY Aly - Austin Newborn Photography

Tell us a little bit about your growing family!

We are officially a family of 4 now that little Aly has arrived! Big brother Landon is so excited to have a little sister and already tries to share his toys with her from time to time.

How is your newborn baby doing?

She has been such a calm and happy baby so far! The weeks are already passing quickly and we are trying to cherish every moment!

How did you come up with baby's name?

My husband and I had a very hard time finding names that we both loved. We were both pretty picky and finally agreed on Aly. Now that she is here with us, I can't imagine her name being anything else!

If you have more than one child, how different are the kids?

It seems a little too soon to see Aly's complete personality but so far, she is very chill and easy going. Landon, who is almost 3, was a very needy and energetic baby! He still doesn't sit still for long and has so much energy. He's so much fun and we really enjoy the differences between them.

How are the siblings adjusting to having a new baby in the house?

Landon is adjusting really well! He was so excited at first and helped take all of Aly's dirty diapers to the trash for us. The newness of her has definitely worn off some but we are so excited to see them play together once Aly becomes more mobile.

Favorite thing about being a mom?

My favorite thing about being a mom is the unconditional love we have for each other. We tell them constantly that we will always love them, no matter what! I also love watching them grow and achieve milestones!

What’s the hardest part about being a mom to a newborn?

For us, the hardest things about being parents to a newborn is the lack of sleep and not knowing exactly what she wants when she cries! This second time around though has been much easier since we have some experience from our son!

What pregnancy and parenting books did you read? Were they helpful?

I didn't read any parenting/pregnancy books but I did take a newborn course after having our first baby. It completely changed our lives and taught us how to put him on a flexible schedule that got him sleeping 8 hour stretches at 8 weeks old. I recommend it to everyone. It's called Will I Ever Sleep Again through Taking Cara Babies! We are applying the same principles now with Aly and she's doing amazing!

Words of wisdom for other families?

Take a ton of pictures and videos! Time flies and I love looking back at them to reminisce. Also, take a lot of deep breaths. Parenting is definitely the hardest thing we have ever done, but the most rewarding. Deep breaths definitely help during those tough moments.
